Covid-19 Self-Quarantine

Week 3

So I’m stuck in the house at a small town in Bayern, Germany called “Wildflecken” during this Covid19 Self-quarantine. I couldn’t be any happier being safe with no signs of the virus.

I’m one in a million traveller with so many plans of visiting different parts of Europe now cancelled awaiting the news of when it shall be lifted. Yes I know it’s hard not to focus on the headlines, the uncertainty and the heartache. We’re all leaning on each other for support during these tough times.

But it really does has it’s perks. I am spending more time with my loved ones strengthening our bonds, playing board games for the first time in 15 years. I have forgotten how much fun it is. Challenging myself to learn something new everyday is a priority.

So It’s now our 3rd week of isolation in Germany and here’s what we’ve been up to.

Everyday after sharing breakfast together, everyone gets on with their work from home while I try find something to do. Wether it’s cleaning, indulging in a hot bath, facial and pampering myself with some great spotify playlist, or just scrolling through YouTube DIY videos in hoping to learn something new. By midday we all share a lunch meal together and by 6pm it’s our time to hit some weights together. Yes we have a gym at home lucky. We then share dinner together and some games before bed. It’s not boring at all.

On the weekends we would go for a nice walk with the family in the forest. My partner’s aunty Moni, would cook some German dishes and bake delicious cakes to have with some coffees after our walk.

We would sit on the dinning table for hours talking and sharing our knowledge, experiences and funny moments with each other and ways to improve ourselves. Self-Quarantine isn’t so bad after all, it’s help us enjoy our presence even more.

COVID-19 Fear

The excitement to leave New Zealand for Germany last weekend came in the same time as my fears of being caught with Coronavirus at our stopover airports. As we packed our bags we made sure we had our facemasks and antibacterial handwash and handwipes handy.

There were not many people in the Auckland airport wearing facemask, but you can also feel and see the fear in people’s eyes as they nervously stare at us whilst lining up to go through custom.

When we arrived at our Melbourne stopover there were many more facemask worn, and in our Dubai stopover were a much larger number of facemask worn by travellers for the fear of Covid-19.

Yes I understand that wearing a facemask heightens the axiety of people that aren’t wearing any and makes it seem as if the virus is nearby and spreading. So wearing our facemask was more like a superstitious behavior which we were pretty much aware of.

Our flight from Auckland to Frankfurt on the 7th March 2020.

Watching the news 24/7 about COVID-19 always stresses me out, that I’m left constantly worried.
I find the media to be exaggerating and I’m sure I’m not the only one in alot of stress from it.

I believe it is very important that we are informed with the right amount of information which i have found from established authoritative sources, like our Local Health Organization’s website. They can help soothe anxiety and most importantly provide concrete directions for disease prevention, like washing your hands frequently and keeping your distance from people who are actively sick.

I Love this quote so much because it speaks to me. It is basically my goal in just about everything I do in life. It doesn’t matter what I do I push myself to learn as much and level up for the better.

My short Intro

Just another Kiwi girl with loads to tell. Introducing myself was always awkward for me because I would always think way too much about how others would think of me.
So here we go…
I’m of Tongan and German background born in New Zealand. I’ve spent my early years in the island of Tonga where I was taught to respect everything big and small, before moving to Australia where I spent most of my life.

I love pretty much everything to do with wellbeing, art, music, adventure, beauty, fashion, food and fitness.
